The Amazing Shake allows students to build and sharpen professional skills. Atlas staff and members of the Colorado Springs community joined us as judges to help determine which students would advance through each round.
Round 1: The Gauntlet
Students used persuasion and negotiation to convince judges on topics like why they should have a cell phone, how to pep-talk their soccer team at halftime, and how to hold a respectful, engaging conversation about a unique art installation (a banana duct taped to a wall!).
Round 2: Work the Room
Winners entered a room full of adults and had to initiate and sustain conversation, mimicking a networking environment. Judges evaluated eye contact, conversational flow, and charisma.
Round 3: Acceptance Speech
Students delivered speeches thanking teachers, friends, and family who helped them succeed. Judges looked for strong voice projection and confident eye contact.
Round 4: Invention
The top four finalists created an invention, developed a sales pitch, and presented to three “sharks,” convincing them their idea would succeed. The highest score earned the title of Atlas Elementary Amazing Shake Champion!
